Below are some must-know information about Scabies.

Scabies is a skin condition brought on by the human itch mite. It burrows its way underneath the skin, leaving waste behind. When the female mite lays her eggs, it leaves a trail of infectious deposits in the epidermis. This causes intense itching and the formation of skin rashes resembling pimples.

Scabies can be dangerous if left untreated. The mites can infest the skin for several months. This could lead to severe infection brought about by the incessant scratching of the affected area.

Scabies is a contagious skin condition that is easily passed from person to person, particularly in groups with a close-knit social structure. If one member of a household has scabies, all of the other members of the family and any close contacts should be checked and treated as well.

Anyone can get scabies. It is not an illness that may be attributed to a lack of proper hygiene.

Unfortunately, scabies cannot be scrubbed off the body by just soap and water. A doctor, usually a dermatologist, would have to diagnose it for proper treatment.

Scabies can appear on various parts of the body such as around the waist, in between toes and fingers, on the chest, around the genital area, on the buttocks, and in the armpits; to mention a few.

Infants can also get infected with scabies on their fingers, palms of their hands, and soles of their feet. They can also get in on their scalp, face, and neck.

Here are the critical scabies symptoms and signs you should know about.

6. Severe Itching

One of the common symptoms of scabies is severe itching. It is the result of an allergic reaction that the body has to mites, their excrement, and their eggs. This is usually the first symptom of scabies

In most cases, the itching is at its worst in the evening or immediately after taking a hot shower or bath.

It’s possible that the itching brought about by scabies won’t show up right away. In some cases, the itching occurs a month after the mites have caused the disorder.

Scabies is a skin disease caused by mites burrowing beneath the skin. They leave behind waste that causes the onset of the disorder. When the female mites lay their eggs in the epidermis, this leaves more infectious deposits. This results in extreme itching and the development of pimple-like skin rashes.

If treatment is not sought, scabies can be dangerous since they can lead to severe infection. Mites can live in the skin for months. They can cause severe itchiness that can tempt you to scratch the affected area until it gets infected.

Once the affected area is infected, there’s a possibility for the infection to spread. That is the one thing you need to avoid at the onset of scabies.

Scabies is a communicable skin disease It spreads easily among household members.

Scabies can affect anyone. It is not a disease that can be traced back to poor hygiene. Anyone is at risk of getting infected.

Knowing the various treatments for this particular skin disease can help ease the mind from worrying about it.

Here are the various scabies treatments and reliefs that you should know about.

13. Hot Water For Washing Clothes

This s not a direct therapy for scabies but washing clothes in hot water and using sodium borate will stop the spread of the infection. A person with scabies should wash any clothing, bedding, and other fabrics that have come into touch with them or their skin.

This will eliminate mites hidden in the clothes and prevent their spread to other parts of their body or to other people.

12. General Household Cleaning (Vacuuming And Bleach)

Scabies can infest homes. This can happen if someone in the household is seriously infected. The mite can survive for several days on bed sheets, mattresses, furniture, clothes, and towels allowing for the propagation of the infestation and eventually infection among the household members.

Vacuuming and using bleach to clean the house can kill scabies, preventing them from spreading and infecting other people in the house.
